Fortis Eye Institute, Gurugram, Selects Ikegami MKC-X200 Full HD Medical Grade Camera and MDR-600HD Video Recorder
Fortis Eye Institute, Gurugram, based at the Fortis Memorial Research Institute in India, has invested in an Ikegami MKC-X200 Full HD camera and MDR-600HD medical-grade video recorder for use with ophthalmic surgery microscopes. The combined system will be used to ensure high quality video imaging for teaching and conference purposes.
Led by Dr. Parul Sharma, Principal Director & HOD of Ophthalmology, the institute is renowned for advanced care in glaucoma, cataract, age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. With its team of highly experienced specialists and cutting-edge facilities, the institute provides comprehensive eye care supported by advanced technology.
Ikegami’s MKC-X200 camera head is only 31 x 31 x 36 mm in WHD size and 60 g in weight so can be used efficiently with a microscope in hospital operating rooms and examination rooms with limited space. The camera head incorporates a 1/2.8-inch color CMOS sensor, improves sensitivity to F11 at 2,000 lux (when line-mix is off) and delivers brighter images than its predecessor. The front panel and on-screen display menu are designed to ensure ease of operation in clinical environments. Integral tools include automatic control of white balance, gain, shutter and knee plus adjustable photometric measurement area and four-step digital zoom. Horizontal and vertical inversion as well as image-rotate functions can also be accessed.
The MDR-600HD medical grade digital video recorder allows simultaneous recording and playback on internal HDD or external USB memory. Video recording can be activated via a single button or plug-in foot switch. A second button allows still-image capture. Recordings can be checked live on the front-panel LCD monitor which can also display unit status and remaining data space. Patient data (recording date, ID, name, gender and birth date) can be searched and reproduced quickly. Currently, we are offering the MDR-600HD-A, which retains the reliability and performance of the original MDR-600HD. With the internal HDD capacity increased from 500GB to 1TB, the recording time on the unit itself has been doubled. In addition, the network function, previously available only as an option, is now provided as a standard feature.
Ikegami’s reputation for high quality design and engineering plus prompt and reliable service and support played a central role in Fortis Eye Institute’s decision to purchase the MKC-X200 and MDR-600HD. The system will be used for both cataract and retina surgery, enabling medical procedures to be recorded for educational purposes. Ikegami will continue to provide advanced imaging solutions to hospitals around the world, supporting the improvement of medical care.
